UNDATED - U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson has sent two letters to the U.S. State Department for information related to the deadly U.S. Consulate attack in Benghazi, Libya.

Fox news has reported that three requests for help following the attack were denied by the CIA chain of command. CIA officials Friday said no one at any level in the CIA told anyone not to help those in need.

On Friday, Obama administration officials defended their response to the September attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, amid the new claims. (See earlier story.)

Isakson, who spoke to Fox 5 in Atlanta, wants all communications from before and after the attack to be given to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

"The American people deserve the answers, and future ambassadors and existing ambassadors in very dangerous parts of the world need to know that the United States in going to protect them when they're doing their job overseas," Isakson told Fox 5.

Fox News reports indicate U.S. operatives on the ground requested to help at the consulate but were told to stand down. They ignored the orders and went anyway.

The attack killed four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens and former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods. Woods' father called him a hero for responding.

"They sign a contract to defend and protect our country. The quid pro quo in that contract though is that we as a nation will stand behind them, do everything we can to serve and protect them," Isakson told Fox 5.
