ATLANTA - A state official says five employees are expected to lose their jobs at the Georgia State Archives.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp said on Friday that he would bring back two other employees. The announcement comes a day after officials said they plan to keep the archives open with regular hours.

Gov. Nathan Deal and Kemp said Thursday that $125,000 in funding will be restored to allow the archives to stay open to the public two days a week. The money was enough to keep the archives open until the middle of the next year.

Last month, Kemp announced plans to lay off state workers and give limited, appointment-only access to the archives in Morrow, where Georgia keeps important records dating to its founding in 1733.
