New 365 signal at Howard Road in test mode

GAINESVILLE - The long anticipated traffic signal at the intersection of state Route 365 and Howard Road in Gainesville is now in the test mode.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials said if weather permits and testing goes well, the signal will be operational the afternoon of Tuesday, October 23.

Convenience store company RaceTrac and the city of Gainesville were working together on the project.

The company's store is on one side of the road, with the J. A. Walters Family YMCA across the highway.

The uncontrolled intersection has been the scene of numerous traffic accidents this year.
