SAUTEE -- The White County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon that left a Sautee man dead.

White County Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said the shooting occurred around 5 p.m. at 3200 Bean Creek Road, off Georgia Highway 356.

Ingram said the victim, 52-year old Roddy Worley, was shot several times and died at the scene.

A suspect, identified as 32-year old Douglas Terry Goodson, was taken into custody a short time later.

According to Ingram, the two men exchanged words and then Worley was shot. There were witnesses to the incident.

Ingram said Goodson will be charged with murder.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime scene unit assisted at the scene, according to Special Agent in Charge Kimberly Williams.
