ATHENS - An Athens grandmother has made history in Georgia, becoming the first woman in the state to act as a gestational carrier for her own grandchild.

Angie Stockton, 45, was implanted with a fertilized egg from her daughter Krista Saxon, when Krista realized she likely would not be able to carry a baby to term.

Stockton told the Athens Banner-Herald and Fox 5 News, she was just "the oven" for the baby.

"It's been 26 years since I've been pregnant," Stockton told the TV station. "I forgot a lot of things, so she [Krista] had to tell me what to expect when."

Krista and her husband Trent Saxon live in Winder.

Healthy baby boy Tucker Landry Saxon was born last Saturday, October 6 at Athens Regional Hospital.
