'Give Burns the Boot' underway in Hall Co.
GAINESVILLE - The firefighters from Hall County Fire Services are in the middle of the 23rd annual 'Give Burns the Boot' ® Drive.
Firefighters around the state typically spend the month of October collecting funds to support burn survivors. Money collected the next two Saturdays, October 13 and 20, will assist the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation as it fulfills its mission to educate the public in burn awareness and prevention, support medical facilities in the care of burns in Georgia, and assist burn survivors in their recovery.
Boot drive monies are also used to support Camp Oo-U-La, Georgia's only camp for burn-injured children.
During last year's Boot Drive, Hall County Fire Services raised over $54,000 with 10% of that returned to Hall County for local fire prevention efforts.
"This year we would like to top $60,000," said Capt. Scott Cagle of Hall County Fire Services. "We have set our sights high and want to raise as much money as possible in honor of all burn survivors in Hall County and throughout the State of Georgia."
