Two of the Gainesville area's longest-running fall festivals are on tap this weekend.

Gainesville's Mule Camp Market, sponsored by the Gainesville Jaycees, begins Friday downtown and will continue through Sunday:

Friday: 10am until 7pm
Saturday: 10am until 7pm
*Day-time Entertainment: 11am - 6pm
*Concert on Main Stage, Presented by Loco's: 630pm - 10:30pm (Featuring Twisted Whiskey, River Street and Mid-life Crisis)
Sunday: 12pm until 5pm

Mule Camp Market began in the mid-1960s as a farmer’s curb market near the downtown square, organized by James Mathis, Sr. of Home Federal Bank. This market evolved into the Corn Tassel Festival, which was a fall festival with local craft exhibitors. About 1993, the Gainesville Jaycees began running the festival and changed the name to Mule Camp Market.

Friday and Saturday, in Cornelia, it's the 25th Annual Big Red Apple Festival:

*Friday, 7:00-10:00 at the Historic Cornelia Train Depot, a free concert featuring an Atlanta-based band, Sol Junky

*Saturday, 10:00-4:00, in downtown Cornelia, arts & crafts, food, children's activities, classic car show, music and other live entertainment, and more
