Alcohol sales for non-profits on the horizonBy Marc Eggers Staff GAINESVILLE – The Hall County Commission held a first reading and public hearing Tuesday afternoon to consider changing the County Code to allow alcohol sales at non-profit special events.
No one signed up to address the Commission regarding the measure. County Attorney Bill Blalock explained, "To give you a little more background, state law requires they get an event permit…and they require that to get their alcohol it’s got to come through a wholesaler so that we get the reports on what has been sold and we get the taxes off it." "We are meeting state law," Commissioner Craig Lutz said. "We are creating a special events permit," Blalock added. A second reading and public hearing followed by a vote on the measure will happen Thursday morning at 9 AM at the Commission’s voting session to be held at the Georgia Mountains Center. © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
