GAINESVILLE - The dedication of the new pedestrian bridge over Jesse Jewell Parkway in downtown Gainesville is scheduled for Tuesday.

The bridge, which connects downtown with midtown, officially opened last month following construction delays which had pushed back the opening. (See separate story.)

Timeline, according to AccessNorthGa.com archives:

*May 2010 - city begins taking bids on the project

*August 2010 - DOT approves permit

*October 2010 - contract awarded with projected completion in mid-2011

*December 2011 - completion delayed until Spring 2012 at the earliest

*August 2012 - bridge opens
