Nicholson bicyclist dies after being hit by car

NICHOLSON - A bicyclist was hit last week by a pickup truck resulting in his death.

Authorities today released details regarding the fatal accident including that 23-year-old Colby Morris Dozier of Nicholson was riding a bicycle in the middle of the eastbound lane of Sanford Drive around 8:30 p.m. Thursday when he was hit from the rear by an eastbound vehicle.

According to the Georgia State Patrol the bicycle did not have proper lighting and after being hit, Dozier was transported to Athens Regional where he later died from his injuries.

The Ford pickup truck that struck Dozier was being driven by 46-year-old Gordon Lee Burnett from Commerce. No charges have been filed.
