GAINESVILLE - Saturday was a good day for a bike ride in Hall County, and one particular ride had a purpose.
The 4th Annual Good News Bike Ride is held each year to raise funds for Good News at Noon, Good News Clinics and Gainesville Action Ministries.
Ride Director Alex Sloan said the monies raised are divided equally among the three charities. He did not have a specific dollar amount raised as of Saturday morning, but he did say participation was up this year to 90 cyclists.
Sloan also said the ride is supported by churches of various denominations.
"Many of them contribute money and there are several that contribute facilities to help us out," said Sloan.
Participating churches for the 2012 Good News Ride were: Blackshear Place Baptist Church, Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church, Chestnut Mountain PCA,
First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, Free Chapel Worship Center, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Holly Springs Baptist Church, Lakewood Baptist Church, Mossy Creek United Methodist Church, North Georgia Christian School, Riverbend Baptist Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church and Westminster Church PCA.
