COMMERCE – Spencer Park in downtown Commerce was transformed to a pink party from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

The free event to highlight October being Breast Health Awareness Month featured manicures, beauty consultants, a bra auction, door prizes, refreshments and more.

Tricia Massey, an organizer of the event, explained the partnership that led to the party.

"The Commerce downtown merchants and the Commerce Downtown Development Authority approached Northridge Medical Center – and I'm a part of Northridge and of the downtown development authority – and they said, 'We want to do a Commerce goes pink,’” Massey said.

“We all felt like that was a great idea, so this was kind of a kick-off party that Northridge Medical Center helped spearhead, and we called it Pink Party in the Park,” Massey said.
