ATLANTA - Avery Niles, warden for Hall County, was named interim commissioner of the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Wednesday.

"Chairman Niles will replace existing Commissioner L. Gale Buckner, and she is scheduled to step down Nov. 1," said Department of Juvenile Justice Spokesman Jim Shuler.

Shuler said Buckner is stepping down to serve as chief magistrate judge in Murray County.

According to the Hall County website, Niles was appointed to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Board last year and was elected chairman in March.
