SAUTEE-NACOOCHEE – Power has been restored for the roughly 700 Habersham Electric Membership Corp. customers in the Sautee-Nacoochee area of White County who lost electrical service Monday morning.

“Apparently a tree fell on the line,” HEMC spokeswoman Susan Baker said. “This was a main line and the tree burned through the wire. That was at 10:40.”

Baker said initially there were some 700 people without power. Crews were able to re-route power, getting some 500 customers back on quickly.

Power was restored to the remaining 200 customers after about three hours.
