HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek fell behind 49-14 but so nearly pulled off a comeback before falling to Norcross 49-41 on Friday night in Hoschton.
The Hawks (3-2, 2-1 Region 7-AAAAAA) reeled off 27 straight points in the second half to pull within a score of the Blue Devils but couldn't knot the contest despite two possessions inside the games closing minutes.
Quarterback Daniel David paced Mill Creek with 248 yards passing on 17-of-28 attempts. He threw for two scores and an interception while also running for 46 yards and two scores. His top target on the night was Davozea Felton with four catches for 67 yards and two scores.
Jacorey Lewis also rushed for 84 yards on 15 carries, moving within 51 yards of Mill Creek's all-time rushing record.
The Hawks will look to bounce back next Friday at Meadowcreek.
