DAHLONEGA – Six different players scored for the North Georgia women’s soccer team as the Lady Saints bounced back from their first loss of the season last weekend which dropped them out of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Continental Tire NCAA Division II National Poll.

Whitley Dover led all scorers with two goals and an assist as the Saints defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University 7-1 Wednesday at the North Georgia Soccer Field.

The Saints improved to 8-1 for the season while the loss drops the Falcons to 4-4 for the year.

North Georgia scored three goals in the first half and the other four in the final 45 minutes. Kelly Penston commenced the scoring in the 13th minute as she put a corner kick from Taylor Lee into the net.

Dover then scored the next two goals in the 31st and 41st minutes to give the Saints a 3-0 lead heading into half time. Caroline Wallace set up the first of the two scores before Dover capitalized on the Falcons’ keeper shanking a ball she tried to clear out of the box off a goal kick.

At the intermission, North Georgia also led Pfeiffer 21-4 in shots and held a 3-0 advantage in corners.

Wallace scored a goal of her own just three minutes into the second half. Dover hit Penston just inside the box and before a defender could interfer, Pentson tapped the ball over to Wallace’s waiting boot.

With the Saints up 4-0, head coach Chris Adams pulled his starters but the goals still came as Elizabeth Buchanan scored an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute.

Pfeiffer’s Aaliyah Jackson finally scored in the 85th minute after taking four other shots prior.

Kayla Croom and Sydney Reeder capped off the match with goals in the 88th and 89th minutes. Abbey Trevino and Julianna Luther assisted on the first with Trevino recording her second assist of the game on the second.

Mallory Sayre started the game between the pipes for North Georgia, playing just over 56 minutes without giving up a goal. Bianca Moeller played the first half in goal for the Falcons with Britt Polly coming in for the second half.

The Saints ended the game with a 36-10 advantage in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Pfeiffer’s keepers and team combined to make 11 saves while Sayre had to make just one save during her time in goal.

North Georgia will jump back into their Peach Belt Conference schedule this weekend as they travel to Savannah, Ga. to take on the ninth-ranked Pirates of Armstrong Atlantic State University on Saturday, Sept. 29. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
