GAINESVILLE - A South Hall man was sentenced to seven years probation and three years under house arrest after pleading guilty to cruelty to children.

Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh said 38-year-old Shannon Pavey was sentenced by Judge C. Andrew Fuller Wednesay.

"Under the facts and evidence of this case and the significant conditions imposed by agreement, including the termination of the defendant's parental rights, mental evaluation of the defendant, restitution for the counseling of the children and other conditions, and the fact that the children were spared from having to testify, along with the full agreement of responsible, caring family members of the children, the negotiated sentence imposed by Judge Fuller was perfectly appropriate," said Darragh.

Members of the Hall County SWAT Team arrested Pavey late last year at his home on Paris Lane in Hoschton.
