Winder organization part of HUD grant announcementBy Derreck Booth Editor UNDATED - The Housing Authority of Winder will get a portion of $1.4 million in federal grant money going to nearly 20 agencies in Georgia.
The money comes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. According to the agency, it's to help public and assisted housing residents connect with local services to get education and training to find jobs. HUD didn't announce a dollar breakdown for the money in Georgia. Under the announcement, HUD is spending $70.5 million across the country in two programs. They are the Public Housing-Family Self-Sufficiency Program and Housing Choice Voucher- Family Self-Sufficiency Program. HUD officials said the funding allows the grant recipients to retain or hire 1,500 service coordinators to work directly with HUD-assisted families across the country. © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
