Habersham absentee ballots available by mail this weekBy Rob Moore Editor CLARKESVILLE – Habersham County Elections Supervisor/Registrar Laurel Jones said Tuesday that absentee ballots for the Nov. 6 General Election will be available this week.
Those ballots will begin being mailed out at least by Friday, Sept. 21, she said. Advance/early voting for the General Election begins Oct. 15 through Nov. 2 at the Habersham County Elections and Registration Office on the third floor of the courthouse in Clarkesville. In-office voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Advance/early voting at the Ruby C. Fulbright Aquatic Center near Clarkesville will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. In addition to voting for president, Habersham County voters will cast ballots for the Georgia Public Service Commission seats currently held by Republicans Chuck Eaton and Stan Wise; the 9th Congressional District seat race between Republican Doug Collins and Democrat Jody Cooley; the Habersham County Commission District 1 race between incumbent Republican G.L. “Sonny” James and Democrat BettyLee Martin. All other candidates on the ballot are unopposed.
