GAINESVILLE - Pam Ware is the winner of the Woodruff Salutes the Arts Award for Theater Education. Ware received it at a ceremony Saturday night at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta.
Gainesville Supt. of Schools Merrianne Dyer says a large group from Gainesville, including some of Ware's students, both past and present, was present for the ceremony and reception in her honor.
Former students Allen Fox and Xylina Nuckles performed a tribute to Ware as part of the ceremony.
Dr. Dyer said the award recognizes the "remarkable achievement and contribution" to theater education for Ware's 28 years of service to Gainesville High School.
Ware has been a fixture at Gainesville High School since the 1970s, and the theatre program has won numerous state championships and other honors under her guidance.
