Wolves howl again, rip Hancock Central 43-0
BUFORD -- An angry pack of Wolves is best avoided, and Hancock Central felt the full force on Friday night, as Buford bounced back from last week's defeat with a 43-0 shut out win over Hancock at home.
The Bulldogs (2-1) gave the Wolves a helping hand on the opening kickoff, receiving the ball in play before retreating into the end zone to down the ball -- giving Buford a safety and an immediate two points.
It was all Wolves (2-1) from there.
Dontravious Wilson -- who missed last week's loss to Gainesville through injury -- ran over Hancock Central for 131 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. Wilson notched back-to-back scores for a 16-0 Wolves lead at the end of the first quarter.
Zavior Hoxie and Joshua Thomas also grabbed one rushing touchdown each, while placekicker Matthew Bonadies impressed with field goals of 34 and 39 yards.
The Wolves rolled up 430 yards in the win, including 297 rushing -- including 58 yards from Quinn Davis. Quarterbacks Montgomery VanGorder and Taylor Mitchell continued to split snaps, with Mitchell completing 6 of 8 passes for 86 yards and VanGorder going 3-for-4 for 47 yards.
Buford held Hancock Central to 88 total yards.
Buford will take a bye next Friday before facing Banks County on Sept. 28.
