Volleyball: Jefferson sweeps, Lady Knights win streak snapped

JEFFERSON – Class AA No. 4 Jefferson swept a pair of matches Thursday at home in girls volleyball action.

The Lady Dragons (17-6) whipped Monroe Area 25-13, 25-15 and then knocked off Johnson 25-18, 25-15 in the second match.

Sarah Wood had 21 kills and Amanda Flowers 10 kills for Jefferson in the two wins. Grace Williamson had 15 assists and 10 aces for the Lady Dragons.

Sarah Wood has been outstanding for Jefferson of late. Over her last five matches, she had 53 kills, 10 digs, seven aces and three blocks.

Johnson saw its three-game win streak snapped in the loss to Jefferson.

The Lady Knights (13-6) opened with a 2-0 win over Monroe Area 25-13, 25-17 to win its third straight match. But, Johnson was knocked off by host Jefferson.

For Johnson, Kelly Chance had seven aces and 11 assists and Karis Sloan had six kills and two blocks. Savannah Turk added seven kills and four digs and LeJavian Ratliff had three kills and five digs.

The Lady Knights will play host to Madison County and Lumpkin County on Tuesday.
