Smith a write-in candidate for Forsyth County Sheriff

CUMMING - After completing the required paperwork, David Townsend D.T. Smith is a write-in candidate for sheriff in Forsyth County.

The Forsyth County Voter Registrations & Elections office confirmed Smith's status as an official write-in candidate on the November sixth ballot.

Smith, a Lt. Col with the sheriff's office, faces the GOP nominee Duane Piper.

Piper defeated incumbent Ted Paxton in a runoff last month.
