Volleyball: GHS splits, Lady Lions swept

GAINESVILLE Gainesville split and the Lakeview Academy girls volleyball team lost for the fifth straight time after losing two matches Tuesday in girls volleyball action.

For Gainesville, Anna Walker had 28 kills and five aces to lead the Lady Elephants over Lakeview 21-25, 25-23, 25-22. Gainesville fell in the nightcap to Apalachee 17-25, 25-21, 25-20 in Region 8-AAAAA play.

Kaylin Walden had 55 assists for Gainesville (14-6, 3-1 in region) while Stasha Hopkins added 22 kills. Lauren Carter had 10 digs and Grace Miller had four blocks and three kills.

The Lady Lions dropped both matches despite the winning the opening sets. They fell 22-25, 25-18, 25-20 to the Lady Elephants and lost 21-25, 25-23, 25-22 to Apalachee.

Katie White had 11 kills, 18 digs, and two aces in a solid effort for Lakeview (14-12). Shelby Ross added 11 blocks, five aces, and five kills and Bailey Towles had 10 assists, 19 digs, and seven aces for the Lady Lions. Samantha Versteeg added 20 digs for Lakeview.
