LAWRENCEVILLE - School officials said security has increased at Georgia Gwinnett College following two separate reports of sexual assault on campus this week--the first cases of their kind since the college opened in 2006.

"One happened the morning of Sunday, Sept. 9, and a known suspect who was a non-GGC student was taken into custody and is at the Gwinnett County Jail," said Sally Ramey, assistant director of media and publications for Georgia Gwinnett College.

Ramey said that suspect, identified by authorities as Nurim Ahemd, was a guest in the dorm building where the alleged assault occurred.

She said the second incident occurred in a parking lot Monday morning and that suspect remains at large.

"He's been described as a light-skinned black man with a muscular build, wearing white shorts," said Ramey.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

Ramey said the college has stepped up patrols, the housing staff is on alert and students have been given safety tips as school officials continue to work with Lawrenceville Police as the investigations continues.
