MILTON - A Cumming woman who crashed through the front of a Milton fast-food restaurant last week was under the influence of prescription drugs at the time, according to a police report.
"This lady pulled up in the driveway, and the next thing you know, she was coming through the store," said Express Wing delivery driver Pernell Russell as we spoke with Channel 2 News. "It was so surreal."
Russell said he tried to get out of the way when 47-year-old Shannon Payette's Lexus came through the window, but he wasn't quick enough and ended up pinned to the wall of the restaurant by the vehicle.
"She appeared to not know where she was... I figured she was probably on pills," said Kevin Hill, who witnessed the incident.
Authorities said Payette is not facing any charges in the Aug. 31 incident, but they said that could change pending the outcome of an analysis of Payette's blood samples by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.
