OAKWOOD – Chestatee ran out to a 28-0 lead and then held on for a 42-21 win over West Hall Friday night.
The War Eagles (1-1) mashed the Spartans for 245 yards rushing, led by Quon Clark, who had 105 yards on 20 carries.
Quarterback Jordan Degraff had a solid game with 78 yards rushing and 49 yards passing, accounting for two touchdowns. Brandon Thompson added 47 yards on nine carries and scored twice for the War Eagles and Tony Fayson had one touchdown catch.
West Hall did not get on the board until late in the third quarter on a 56-yard TD pass from Zachay English to Chase Jarrard to cap an 88-yard drive. English would finish with 109 yards passing and Jarrard had five catches for 62 yards. Isiah Rowe had 30 yards rushing on 19 carries.
The Chestatee defense held West Hall to just 162 total yards, only 53 on the ground.
