Dragons pull away to beat Jackson County

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson scored 21 unanswered points to pull away for a 28-6 win over rival Jackson County Friday night.

The Dragons (1-1) scored one touchdown in each quarter using a balanced attack. They finished with 183 yards rushing and 199 yards passing.

Senior quarterback Bryant Shirreffs was 14-for-24 passing for 199 yards and one touchdown and also scored one touchdown rushing for the Dragons. Sammy Williams had 119 yards rushing yards and one touchdown for Jefferson.

Jackson County totaled 230 yards for the game but just 102 on the ground. Quarterback Kyle Daniel was 9-of-18 passing for 128 yards. Dustin Scott had four catches for 98 yards, including an 80-yard TD catch, and he had 10 carries for 57 yards rushing for the Panthers.
