Softball: Thomas leads Lady Falcons past Apalachee

FLOWERY BRANCH – Flowery Branch stayed within one game of second place in Region 8-AAAAA after taking a 4-2 win over Apalachee in girls softball Thursday.

The Lady Falcons (10-7, 3-2 in region) got a complete-game effort from Jessica Thomas in the circle. Thomas allowed two runs on four hits and did not walk a batter.

Apalachee fell to 9-10, 2-3 in region play with the loss.

For Flowery Branch, Kelly Kahlert and Casey Zoeller combined for four hits in the game. Kahlert stole three bases and scored three runs while Zoeller knocked in three of the lady Falcons’ four runs.

Flowery Branch, which has won two straight region games, next will travel to Gainesville on Monday in another region matchup.
