OAKWOOD -- The Gainesville girls softball team picked up its first Region 8-AAAAA win Wednesday with a 7-4 victory ovber Johnson.
Kayla Street earned the win for the Lady Elephants (3-13, 1-2 in region) going the distance allowing 10 hits while fanning six.
Kaitlyn Roper paced the Gainesville offense with two hits and two RBI. Rachel Funk had two hits with one RBI and scored twice for the Lady Red Elephants.
Sarah Arenas had one hit and two RBI and Kayla Montague and Mikaylei Byrd each had one hit and scored one run for Gainesville.
