North Gwinnett, Gainesville, Stephens County and Buford all remained inside the top 10 of the latest Associated Press prep football rankings, released Tuesday.
The Red Elephants stayed inside the Class AAAAA top 10 despite a season-opening loss to West Forsyth on Thursday, 32-30. Gainesville comes in at No. 9 and will look to bounce back this week against the No. 2 team in Class AAA -- Buford.
The Wolves opened the season with a 14-3 win over then-No. 6 Elbert County on Friday.
Meanwhile, in Class AAAA, Stephens County moved up two spots to No. 8. The Indians opened with a 28-7 defeat of Franklin County and will play host to Habersham Central this week.
North Gwinnett maintained their spot at No. 4 in Class AAAAAA. The Bulldogs are 2-0 on the season and have a bye this week before taking on Norcross on Sept. 14.
Flowery Branch, which was inside the Class AAAAA top 10 last week fell out after a season-opening loss to No. 2 Northside, Warner Robins. The Falcons, Dawson County (Class AAA) and Commerce (Class A) are all receiving votes.
