GAINESVILLE - Gainesville City Council members Thursday met the new director of Keep Hall Beautiful during their bi-weekly work session.

Kelly Norman is moving over from her job as program coordinator with Hall County Parks and Leisure, a job she had for just over four years. She said Keep Hall Beautiful relates to what she's been involved in.

"It's a great opportunity to serve the community in a capacity that I'm passionate about," Norman said. "That includes recycling initiatives, education and litter prevention."

Norman said two big litter collection events, Rivers Alive and the Lake Lanier Shore Sweep are coming up in September.

"Rivers Alive will be held September 15th," Norman added. "We'll be meeting at McEver Elementary School between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. We'll also have the Shore Sweep which we'll hold at Clarks Bridge around the same time."
