COMMERCE – Commerce piled up 398 yards rushing and did not attempt a single pass in taking a 22-7 win over arch-rival Jefferson Friday night.
The win snapped the Tigers’ five-game losing streak to the Dragons.
Jamal Browner paced Commerce with 160 yards and two touchdowns on carries. Drew Whitfield had 16 rushes for 58 yards and Terrick Ramsey had four carries for a whopping 103 yards, the majority coming on an 81-yard touchdown run.
For Jefferson, Bryant Shirreffs was 14-of-26 passing for with 131 yards but was held without a touchdown pass and was picked off twice. He scored Jefferson’s only touchdown in the second quarter on a 7-yard run to tie the game.
Sammy Williams had five carries for 40 yards for the Dragons.
The Tigers shutout Jefferson in the second half, outscoring the Dragons 15-0 after halftime.
