SUGAR HILL – Apalachee’s Zay Henry ran 80-yards on the opening play to spark a 21-11 win over Lanier Friday night.
Eric Tanner had two touchdowns for the Wildcats, including one in the final two minutes to snuff out a comeback by the Longhorns.
Apalachee led 14-0 at halftime but watched as Lanier hit a long field goal and then converted a fumble recovery into a touchdown to trim the lead to 14-10. But the Wildcats used a long, time-consuming drive late in the fourth quarter, capped by Tanner’s second rushing TD, to seal the win.
