The prep football season got rolling with a bang on Friday night and included some intriguing results for area programs.

North Hall continued it's domination over cross-town rival Chestatee with a 32-20 win at Chestatee -- a game that featured over 550 yards rushing between the two foes. The Trojans ripped through 339 yards on the ground, including 113 for TJ Tate. The senior also provided three scores on the night.

Meanwhile, Flowery Branch saw a few mistakes cause a tidal wave, as Northside, Warner Robins traveled to the Branch and ran away with a 45-7 victory.

Dawson County found itself on the opposite end of that for the second straight week, as the Tigers shut down Lumpkin County 35-0. Dawson County has two victories by a combined 77-0 scoreline so far this season.

Fellow Region 7-AAA foe White County also dominated on Friday, suffocating Class AAAAAA foe Habersham Central 31-0. It was the Warriors' first win in the rarely-played series and showed that White County has made great strides in its second year under coach Bill Ballard.

Another 7-AAA competitor, Banks County, put up an offensive explosion, piling up 470 yards in its 46-30 defeat of East Jackson.

Buford, meanwhile, did it with defense on Friday, stonewalling Elbert County and allowing just 126 yards in a 14-3 win in Elberton in a battle between No. 2 and No. 6, respectively

In Oakwood, Johnson ran out to its first 2-0 start since 2007 with a 36-21 defeat of Oglethorpe that featured five Cedric Harris touchdowns, while East Hall bounced back from an opening week loss with a win at Chattooga.

And in Commerce, the Tigers broke a five-game losing streak to Jefferson, rushing for 398 yards in a 22-7 victory.

Other opening day winners included Apalachee, Jackson County, Mill Creek, North Forsyth, Union County and Stephens County.
