CUMMING - A rabid raccoon bit a Forsyth County man Thursday in the area of Hopewell Road.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Karleen Chalker said the 72-year-old man was bitten by the raccoon as he was entering his barn to get food for his animals.

"The 72-year-old man that was bitten by a raccoon Thursday is undergoing treatment," she said.

Chalker said the Forsyth County Sheriff's Animal Control unit arrived and took the raccoon to a local vet, where it tested positive for rabies.

She said a rabid fox bit a 45-year-old man in the same area of the county in June, making this the second case of the summer in Forsyth County.
