WINDER - A Winder woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday after admitting to stealing $29,000 from her employer.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Susan Peppers Hardy admitted to a variety of forgery schemes, including changing the amount on paychecks made out to her and creating new paychecks with a forged name of the signer while she worked for the Oconee River Soil and Conservation District.
Prosecutors said the fraud was discovered after an investigation into inconsistencies on monthly expenditure reports Hardy had prepared.
They said Hardy pleaded guilty to 43 counts of forgery prior to the sentencing, which includes paying restitution to the government entity.
