Car collides with courthouse in Habersham, no one hurtBy Rob Moore Editor

CLARKESVILLE – No one was hurt when a vehicle struck the Habersham County Courthouse mid-morning Friday.
“It was a car accident – a one-car accident,” said County Manager Janeann Allison. “An older couple was in their car and they were parking in the handicapped spot, and it looks like either their foot slipped onto the gas or something like that and they came into the corner side of the building.” The collision occurred on the Woods Furniture side of the building, just down from the adjacent gazebo. The courthouse itself suffered no structural damage. “It did not damage the building at all, just damaged a little bit of the shrubs,” Allison said. “They [vehicle occupants] were fine. We had EMS come out and check them out. The fire department came in case there was any kind of spillage, and there was not – everything was fine.” Allison said business at the courthouse quickly returned to normal after it was determined the people were not hurt, there was no structural damage, and there was no leakage. “It barely even scratched the brick,” Allison said. Allison said the car, on the other hand, suffered considerable damage. “It had some damage,” Allison said. “It probably will be totaled – I don’t know a whole lot about that, but others out there were saying the front end was damaged pretty badly.” © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
