WASHINGTON - Amtrak service to New Orleans on the Crescent which stops twice-a-day in Toccoa, Gainesville and Atlanta has been suspended because of Hurricane Isaac.

The Crescent usually stops once in the morning on its way from New York to New Orleans and once in the evening on its way from New Orleans to New York.

Service has been suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday, Amtrak officials say. The trains are still running between New York and Atlanta in the mornings and Atlanta and New York in the evenings.

All other Amtrak service to New Orleans has also been suspended through Wednesday.

Passengers who have paid but choose not to travel due to this service disruption can receive a refund or a voucher for future travel. Some reservations booked online can be modified or canceled on Amtrak.com or by using the free Amtrak mobile app.
