Student who shot himself at school dies

Parents waited Friday to pick their children up from school

UNDATED - The victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound that put Banks County High School on lockdown Friday died Saturday morning.

Banks County Coroner Bobby Eubanks confirmed Saturday that the 15-year-old boy from Lula died as a result of the shooting.

Authorities said he was airlifted to an Atlanta Hospital while the school remained on lockdown until roughly 2 p.m.

Law enforcement from numerous agencies, including the Banks County Sheriff's Office, Hall County Sheriff's Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene of the shooting, which remains under investigation.
