JEFFERSON -- On Saturday, members of the Jefferson soccer community will host "Owen's Soccer Tournment and Family Fun Day," beginning at 9 a.m. at the Jefferson Parks & Recreation fields in Jefferson.
All proceeds will go to the family of Owen Newman’s, who was recently diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.
The day-long event will feature a youth soccer tournament (eight teams), family games, raffles, silent auction, a free soccer clinic sponsored by Premier International Soccer and will close out the day with two main attractions -- the Jefferson City adult team will play an exhibition soccer game against the UGA Men’s Soccer Club, while another local team, Jackson FC, will take on Saturn FC (a former National American Soccer League -- NASL team).
