Former HCC candidate files suit against elections boardBy Katie Crumley Access Insider GAINESVILLE - A lawsuit has been filed by a former candidate for the Hall County Commission, contesting the results of the July 31 primary.
Eugene Moon, who lost to incumbent Billy Powell for the District 2 seat on the commission, filed the suit in Hall County Superior Court Friday. The suit alleges that the Hall County Elections Board and Hall County Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee failed to use the legally approved district maps for the election, extending District 4 beyond its legal boundaries into District 2 and thereby affected the race results. Jeff Stowe won the District 4 race against incumbent Ashley Bell. In the suit, Moon asks Sosebee to present a map that depicts which voters voted in the election of each post for the Hall County Board of Commissioners, and it also asks the court to render the election invalid. In addition, the suit contains sworn statements from at least two voters who say they do not reside in District 4 but voted in the District 4 commission race on July 31. Emory Turner, Rose Johnson and John Varner are also listed as plaintiffs in the suit. © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
