Brown hauls in two TDs in Dogs' first fall scrimmage

ATHENS -- Marlon Brown caught two touchdown passes and freshman Todd Gurley rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown to highlight Georgia's first scrimmage of the year.

Aaron Murray completed 12 of 17 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown in Wednesday's scrimmage at Sanford Stadium.

Brown caught six passes for 103 yards with the two touchdowns.

Coach Mark Richt says he was happy with his starters on both sides of the ball. The first-team defense gave up only one first down on its first three drives when playing against the Bulldogs' second-team offense.

Senior nose tackle John Jenkins says the defense is becoming the unit "everybody knows we can be."

Richt says Brown has had a strong preseason practice.
