PINEHURST, N.C. -- Gainesville's Spencer Ralston shot a 6-under-par 66 on Saturday to help secure a place on the U.S. team at the world famous Pinehurst course in the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Cup in Pinehurst, N.C.
Ralston finished with a two-day total of 214 (2-under) and finished tied for first in the 14-year-old division before falling in the first hole of a sudden death playoff to Florida'a Matthew Ruel.
Ralston will play again Sunday on the world famous Pinehurst No. 2 course in the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Cup. The top four American's in each age group will compete against the top four foreign players in a team match play style format to determine the 2012 World Cup Team Champion.
Ralston is a rising freshman on the GHS golf team and will join an already strong group of players who last year won the 2012 Class AAA championship.
