CUMMING - Georgia Department of Transportation crews began work this week to widen a portion of Georgia 400 in Forsyth County from two northbound lanes to three.

"Most of the work is occurring overnight from about 9 p.m. to about 8 a.m. the next morning," said Georgia DOT Spokeswoman Teri Pope.

She said they'll be extending the three lanes from McGinnis Ferry Road, past McFarland Road to a bridge over the Big Creek Greenway.

Pope said the work is expected to take approximately two weeks.
