Funeral arrangements incomplete for former Habersham sheriff

CORNELIA – Former Habersham County Sheriff Rick Moore died Thursday night at Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Clayton.

Prior to being elected sheriff, Moore taught DARE to fifth-grade students throughout the county. He began work as a jailer, then moved up to road officer, and investigator prior to teaching DARE.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2PM in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home in Cornelia.

Moore was 60 years old.
