Five Lanier Running Club athletes headed to USATF Nationals

The Lanier Running Club will send five area track and field athletes to this week's USATF Junior Olympic National meet in Maryland.

Forsyth County resident Savannah Carnahan will compete for Lanier in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters after posting qualifying times of 5 minutes, 9.27 seconds and 10:59, respectively. Chestatee's Tori Mullinax will also compete in the 3,000 after qualifying in 11:52.31.

Meanwhile, West Hall's Ryan Sharry will compete in the steeplechase (8:03).

In field events, North Hall's Gabrielle Hoffman will battle in the pole vault (9-feet-10), and Stephens County's Whitleigh Swinton -- the top-ranked high jumper in USATF Region 3 -- will compete after clearing of 5-5 in regionals.
