Briscoe out of FAA privatization program

LAWRENCEVILLE - Opponents of the privatization of Gwinnett County's Briscoe Field have another victory of sorts.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Federal Aviation Administration has officially taken Briscoe Field off its airport privatization program.

Amid a storm of opposition and some support, the Gwinnett County Commission recently rejected a plan that would have allowed commercial flights at the airport. The elected body also voted to withdrawal its application for the FAA privatization program.

The question has been the subject of debate for several years.
