GPD seeking community input
GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department is seeking the community's input as it approaches its re-accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
Spokesman Kevin Holbrook said the department is conducting a survey of citizens' attitudes and opinions in keeping with "our commitment to correcting actions, practices and attitudes that may contribute to community tensions and grievances." Corp. Holbrook added that it is "extremely important" that the department establish feedback in these areas.
"We are asking that citizens take a brief moment to complete a short survey," he said. "The survey is located on the department's website, www.gainesville.org, it is available in English or Spanish. The responses will remain anonymous unless you indicate otherwise by including your name and address. Once complete the surveys will be tabulated and the results will be posted on the city' website."
Holbrook went on it say that " it is imperative the police department keep open channels of communication with the community and citizens in which we strive to serve and protect. The citizens' responses to this survey will aid us in better assisting the community we are proud to serve."
