Barrow Co. home completely destroyed by fire

WINDER - Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a Barrow County home Thursday morning.

Barrow County Emergency Services Lt. Scott Dakin said units responded to the home in the 800 block of Briscoe Mill Road around 3 a.m. and discovered heavy smoke coming from the back of the residence.

He said the American Red Cross has responded to assist the occupant of the home.

Dakin said the call followed another house fire in the area the previous afternoon. He said that one occurred on Wynbrook Road in Auburn and caused only minor damage.
